Filming Part 2

Manu Feildel and his Channel 7 TV filming crew from Australia have been here in the Basque Country this week filming for an episode in the latest ‘My France with Manu’ series, and Basque Experiences have been organising and ‘fixing’ in Getxo and for the later shoot in Donosti / San Sebastian.

A perfect day on Wednesday fishing for squid just outside Bilbao harbour produced 5 handsome Begi Haundi -’Big Eye’ in Basque, a couple of which performed by expertly squirting ink onto Iñigo our skipper/fisherman/chef and onto Manu and his smart Lacoste shirt!

From here we upped cameras and sound equipment and onto the Puerto Viejo in Algorta where, under Iñigo’s watchful eye Manu learned how to cook Squid in it’s own ink – Basque Style!! This is a really popular dish here on the coast in the Basque Country, and the amazing sunset was the perfect back drop!

After filming we devoured the squid which according to Manu were ‘dancing on his tongue’!! helped by a few of our friends from Portu Zaharra we proceeded up the steps to the great Arrantzale Bar for some ‘refreshment’…. Here are a few pics, more to follow, and the show in due course too!
